I updated the blog to the new WordPress. It’s a lot snapper in the admin area, and the changes to the block editor/gutenberg interface have basically solved all the UX issues I had with it when it went live 18 months ago.

Now I just need to wait for the plugin checker thing to update to include php 7.4 and things will be Golden!

Lockdown Week 3

We’ve got to that point in lockdown where we drew up a long list of things to do around the flat, and have started ticking them off.

Tomorrow I’m going to clean the oven as the weather is supposed to be nice, so I can keep the back door open. Today I deforested the fridge.

Big Achievement

The things on the bottom of the flat list unfortunately involve taking stuff up the Tip. But for now, I can continue to fix broken draws etc 🙂

Earlier this week Eve made a replica of our flat in sims 4 and then populated it it with Sim Jay and Sim Eve.

I’m really really pleased with how this episode turned out. Its actually the opposite of the type of thing I normally make. I even had just enough time left when making it to experiment with a drone/scoring underneath.

I hope you take a listen to this one – if you normally skip it. I’m really proud of it. Feedback very welcome!

Reading

I finished reading The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America’s Shining Women.

I had to put the book down a few times, as it’s so heart breaking.

There are parts of the book that were horrendous. But the whole story was riveting and inspiring.

The debt the workers in America owe to those women is immense.

The Epilogue describes how their fight influenced safety at the manhattan project and studies into long term health risks of radioactive fallout.

I also read Valdor Birth Of the Imperium by Chris Wraight. Another Warhammer 40k book. It was ok. Not his best work. But it is now the earliest book in time line. Set during the civil wars on Terra even before the Emperor had conquered the Gene Witches of Luna.

Now I’m reading Pagans: The End of Traditional Religion and the Rise of Christianity by James J. O’Donnell I’ve only just started today.

Music

Laurel Halo’s drone album ( and soundtrack for the 2018 Metahaven documentary possessed) is out on the 10th of April.
