But Jay! I hear you shout. You are starting this whilst Mercury is in retrograde! I am technically not starting something new, but rather reviving a previous endeavour. So I proceed with Abandon.

For those that would like to know. My holiday was amazing thanks. Singapore, at Marina Bay Sands. We watched the sunset from infinity pool 57 stories up, backdropped by a city built by contemporary global capital. The cloud forest and the hawker markets. We saw Honor Harger for coffee, the Future World exhibition at the Singapore ArtScience museum is incredible.

We spent three weeks in Bali, not so much eat, pray, love, as eat, drink, and sleep. We had some incredible moments.

Drinking and eating with friends in an AirBnB in the rainforest.

Each morning in Barat National Park with Deer sitting on the rocks outside our beach house at low tide. The sound of the rain as it sheets across the rainforest. The shift in tones of the Cicadas before a storm. The tasting menu and cocktail pairing we had Locavore in Ubud. Haggling in the markets and relaxing on paradise beaches of black and sometimes brilliant white sand. Seeing the Menjangan island reef, thus far still spared from bleaching, so many colors and so much movement it was hard to know where to look. All the time whilst swimming through plastic. To recreate the experience, throw 5 crisp packets in the bath and use a snorkel.

Jetstar really is the worst airline in the world.

In Australia we saw the bleached white of the barrier reef and watched many people seasick, we took the cable car over the jungle in cairns.

We drank insane cocktails in a hidden pit bar in Sydney, and obviously did the zoo and took the obligatory tourist photos.

The fires spared Gordon Whites farm, so we spent several days there. good food, company and conversation. A splendid host. I recorded an episode of Occulture podcast on Solarpunk whilst I was there.

The huge James Turrell installation’s there are incredible. It is a must visit place if you are ever on that side of the world.

Illness stuck in Melborne, but I did manage to catch M1k3y and Corey White from nothing.here. We had vegan food a chats. I ate some ridiculous hipster breakfasts in Melbourne. Its a city that’s trying too hard but at least the food is good.

Lastly we saw the good Dr Kane and the lovely Vale in Perth. A city of suburbs and mining money. Paradise beaches 30 seconds away. The Desert Pinnacles and Two rocks are also highly recommended.

So anyway, that’s about all I have to say about my holiday in public for fear of this becoming an influencer show or something., if you wanna know more, drop me a line and we;ll go for dinner or a drink and I’ll tell you more.

Anyways, im glad to be back. Tho making this seems to be a bit of a stuggle. I have a new mic and i’m still learning its profile. I don’t think it will take too long to get back to the soaring heights of last years qulaity. But it does suddenly strike me as unnatural to be speaking into a microphone in an empty room again and i’ve been struggling – you can probably hear.

There’s a lot get done this year and there is no time to be self critical, 1000mph club or bust. No other options, there are so many converging futures, it is our job to surf the chaos and pay attention.

Survive to 2025 is a line i’m going to be using this year.

As the medium term looks grim but im bullish on the longer cycles. We’ll see if the culture wars become actual wars, wild bands of app uses roving the streets on behalf of their meme lords.

Permies and solarpunk avoiding imperial entanglements, gardening amongst the edgelands of state control

There is unpleasantness everywhere.
